Blacks struggle with 72 percent unwed mothers rate
by Charles Cherry
Seventy-two percent? Seven out of ten? This is amazing. This is incredible. This is tragic.
No, this is worse than tragic. It is a national emergency, but what can be done about it?
What is even more tragic, in my opinion, is the way in which Black Christian leaders are [not] dealing with this issue:
Even in black churches, “nobody talks about it,” Carroll says. “It’s like some big secret.”
“The growing problem” is a massive understatement. Black Christian leaders should view this problem as one of their top concerns.
Until the real underlying causes are identified and dealt with, this will only continue to get worse.
