The Politicos are Out of Touch
by Charles Cherry
According to a new poll by Rasmussen, more people are following the news about plans to build an Islamic mosque at Ground-Zero in Manhattan.
What is not suprising, but still frustrating, about the poll, is how out of touch the political class is from mainstream America.
According to the poll, 62% of those polled oppose the building of a mosque near Ground-Zero. Twenty-five percent (25%) favor allowing the mosque to go ahead, and 13% more are not sure.
However, Sixty-eight percent (68%) of the Political Class* favor building the mosque near Ground Zero, while Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Mainstream voters are opposed. I don’t see how the politicos could be more out-of-touch than they are. These are the kinds of issues that drive voters to the polls.

* According to Rasmussen polling, they define someone as being in the “political class” if they believe at least two out of three of the following:
- They DO trust the judgment of political leaders more than the judgment of the American people;
- They do NOT think that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests;
- They do NOT think that government and big business often work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors.
