How to add the ESV Bible as a search engine to Chrome
by Charles Cherry
Here is a very cool tip for those of you who use Google Chrome and like to search the ESV Bible:
1. Click on the little wrench icon in the upper right of the window (to the right of the address bar).
2. Select “Options” to open the options window.
3. On the “Basics” tab, click on the “Manage” button next to the “Default search:” drop-down list.
4. Click the “Add…” button.
5. In the Add Search Engine window, there are three fields: Name, Keyword, and URL.
a. In the “Name” field, enter the name of the search engine (whatever you want to call it – I called mine “ESV Bible”).
b. In the “Keyword” field, enter a word or letter that you will use to “trigger” the search engine in the address bar. I used the letter “e”.
c. In the “URL” field, type or paste the following : http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=%s
Click the OK button, and you’re all set.
To perform a search, type your keyword in the address bar, followed by the term or phrase you want to search for, then hit the Enter key.
You should see your results displayed in the ESV Bible site!
